Animal cruelty

Posted on 11 October 2010 at 18:19 in rants|Jump To Comments

I am not interested in animal cruelty or anything, but sometimes the dogs around the place where I stay are getting on my nerves.

Let’s say you’ve had a long day at work and you’re coming home a bit late, for example 9 o’clock. It’s the middle of autumn and at that hour there’s hardly any light outside. You reach the building you live in, get the keys out of your pocket and stop suddenly, without moving. You stopped because there’s a dog laying on the threshold, apparently sleeping. You cling your keys, thus letting the dog know you are there and that you are not a stranger. The dog looks at you and starts barking. You can hold your position or you can back away. If you choose to back away you end up waiting for the dog to go away, which can take a while or the dog can chase and bite you. If you keep your position the dog will see it as a threat and bite you. Either way, the situation isn’t too good for you.

With that in mind, consider having ~20 dogs on a 200m street. What would you do then? Animal cruelty doesn’t look like a bad alternative now does it? I am not talking about killing the dogs yourself. No, I am talking about calling the dog pound. In essence it’s the same thing.

EDIT: I am not saying all dogs are like that. I’ve seen a lot of kind and nice dogs. And I like cats more! :P

calling the dog pound is the best alternative
i love dogs but when they put us or my family in danger,i choose my family…
they become a danger when they are too many,so that would be the best solution
    like your post;)

I understand your pain man, same thing happen to me…only i choose to kick them in the stomach while they sleep, they wake up too scared to bite, trust me, works every time…calling the dog pound doesn’t do anything, not in this crap country that is our home. cheers mate.

I love dogs and I don’t think they should be killed.
One solution would be to have animal shelters… from where they can be placed for adoption… I think

You are right, but I seriously doubt that will happen anywhere in the near future :(

I’m a dog lover, so I might be a bit too subjective. That’s why I won’t say anything; instead I’ll recommend Earthlings to you. If you can stand through all the movie and still consider that animal cruelty can be a solution…then you’re strong. Like reeeaaal strong.

I can’t stand animal cruelty as it is! I said that in the first sentence. Don’t get me wrong, I am not a vicious person or anything :) .

Remember the Holocaust? Imagine people can do stuff like that to other people. Doing the same thing to animals doesn’t seem so unbelievable now, does it? :P

This is one of those times when I’m soooo happy i live in a small town (with not THAT many stray dogs around).

“animal cruelty” is only a temporary solutions. A long term one would be ‘stoping them from multiplying’ (just saying in a nice way ;)) )

p.s. Cats are cute (expecially when they’re little), but in general i prefer dogs ‘cuz they’re loyal (and cats are evil =)) )
